Good morning NPPCG Members!

Thank you to everyone who came to last night's meeting - we had a great turnout. One of the topics we discussed was a propsed amendment by the Georgia Composit Medical Board that has the potential to GREATLY impact our practice. Please take the time to read the attachment and give feedback to Carol Dorsey - email CDorsey@dch.ga.gov by August 31, 2012.

In summary, the proposed amendment would only permit Advanced Practice Registered Nurses and Physician Assistants to "provide care by electronic or other means" only AFTER the supervising or delegating physicians have seen or examined the patient IN PERSON or provided the initial treatment or consultation for the patient. The APRN or PA must also provide their credentials and the name of the delegating or supervising physician each time they communicate via "electronic or other means."

I am certain you can see ways this will impact your practice and patient care negatively. Please take the time before this becomes the law to send SPECIFIC examples in the commends section - I will compile these into an email for Ms. Dorsey - or email the Georgia Composite Medical Board at the address above.
