Legislative Issues

Hello all NP Council of Coastal Ga members, The legislative coalition needs our feedback as we move into the next legislative session.  Feedback is needed on the below issues at this time as we partner with other groups to gain more legislative power.

We are creating a rough draft for our legislative agenda for next session as well and we can discuss those details at the next meeting.

1. Medicaid limiting access to care for pediatric and adult patients- We need clinical stories and examples without identifiers to stress this issue- (ie: 10 year old patient must travel almost 60 miles to reach a primary care provider who accepts Medicaid or one of your patients must come into town from many miles away to have Coumadin levels checked because a local office does not accept medicaid) -Please contact me with any examples as soon as possible, we can also call you if that saves you time
    
2. Reasons why your practice or other practices you are aware of do not accept Medicaid patients
    
3. Obesity Coalition group has teamed with American Heart Association- they are looking for any obesity initiatives that have been tried or created in the community that they can help to make possible and bring to fruition
    
4. Fundraising plan is a huge issue--any ideas???  :)
    
5. Proposed DEA registration fee increase from $551 to $732 with 3-year renewal, to submit comments by 9/6/11 to help prevent this, Click Here
