UAPRN Conference (330 KB)

Hello APRNCG Members!

Last weekend, Executive Council member Christen Standiford and several APRNCG members attended the United APRNs of Georgia annual conference in Peachtree City, GA. The conference theme "Empowering the Future of Advanced Practice Nursing," truly lived up to its name.

UAPRN continues to lead in improving healthcare delivery and outcomes for Georgians in countless ways, including in helping to shape healthcare policy and legislation -  and APRNs of Coastal Georgia is honored to support them in this important work. Thanks to their advocacy, APRNs such as nurse practitioners now have authority to write home health orders, sign handicap placards and death certificates, and prescribe short-term supplies of Schedule II medications in emergency situations

The conference also welcomed several special guests: Kim Lenard, Mayor of Peachtree City, the personal delivery of the governor’s proclamation recognizing Nurse Practitioner Week, representatives for the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and State Senator Jason Esteves, who shared how NP-led care has impacted his life, including through the work of his wife, a nurse practitioner.

As we move closer to legislative session, you may receive short notice communications asking for help - writing a letter, attending a round table meeting,  or sharing your experiences in other ways.

With that in mind, the UAPRN has invited local APRNs  to attend a roundtable event at this Wednesday around 2pm in either Pooler or Savannah.  The topics of discussion would include experiences delivering care in Georgia, especially rural areas. We understand that this is short notice during a work day, but if you are available to participate please reach out to Christen, who will be attending this event.

Thank you as always for your hard work serving our community - see you soon!
