Hello APRNCCG Members!
We are 1 week away from our highly anticipated Nurses Week 2024 dinner meeting at Starland Yard!
As a reminder, this is a drop in event from around 5:30 - 7:00pm. We will be holding a drawing for our giveaways (see the attached sneak peak!), passing out our Nurses Week 2024 t-shirts for those who ordered them, along with some other swag! The dinner portion of the meeting will be covered by the APRNCCG for our active members and their guests / families.
Please make sure to RSVP here and send Christen a message or text with the number of guests so we can give Starland Yard an anticipated number of guests!
Also, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate this historic legislative year for nurses and advanced practice registered nurses in Georgia! Governor Kemp signed the following bills into law:
HB 557 - allowing APRNs to write orders for disability parking permits and schedule II prescriptions & disability permits, authorizing APRNs after one year of post-licensure clinical experience to prescribe 5-day emergency supplies of schedule II medications for people aged 18 years or greater (this will require an amendment to the nurse protocol agreement).
SB 449 - includes substitute language to create APRN licenses and an expedited licensing process for military medical personnel to qualify as LPNs and other positions.
HB 1046 - authorizes APRNs to sign death certificates (effective July 1), changes the number of APRNs/PAs a physician can supervise to 8, and creates the Georgia Commission on Maternal and Infant Health - which will include a Nurse Midwife.
Thank you to the UAPRN for all of your hard work supporting APRN practice in Georgia!
See you soon!
