Urgent Call To Action - Senate Committee Meeting in Savannah Tomorrow

Posted over 1 year ago by Christen Standiford

Hello APRNCCG members!

I apologize for the short notice - Tomorrow, July 25, 2023 from 10:00 am - 12:00pm the Georgia Senate Study Committee on Expanding Georgia's Workforce will be meeting and will be

Address:

906 Drayton Street, Savannah, GA 31401
Robin Pingeton, Nancy Hurlock, and Julianna McConnell of the UAPRN will be present to represent APRNs in Georgia and would appreciate it if any local APRNs are able to attend and perhaps speak. They plan to arrive at 9:20am to get good seats. The primary focus is expanding Georgia's workforce and in particular they are looking at different committees and processes, including the process APRNs are required to do with our nurse protocols. If you have any experience or hardship with these protocols - such as delays in approval that has also lead to a delay in other aspects of providing care, including DEA licensure - please let us know or please take a little time to speak tomorrow morning.
If you are able to make it, please let me know and I'll be happy to help coordinate with the UAPRN representatives!
Thank you,
~Christen

I would've absolutely loved to come but unfortunately I am out of town. I am actually in the process of obtaining a protocol agreement for the direct primary care office I'm opening in midtown (Magnolia Springs Family Practice). I have been waiting for the GA medical board to approve this protocol for almost two months now. It's been a significant delay, I am paying a collaborating physician monthly for a practice I'm not using yet. The individual handling protocol agreements A-K does not answer the phone, emails, etc. I've been told she replied to another APRNs email and said she's been recently reviewing agreements from February/March! I've been so disappointed in how I'm willing, able and anxious to practice and cannot due to the hold up. I cannot transfer my DEA until I have the agreement in place!

Thank you for your feedback! I have had similar experiences, as have may APRNs in Georgia. I will keep you posted on what we learn from today!
