June 2023 - Update

Hello APRNCCG Members!

I apologize for the delay in sending out these minutes and the slides for those who weren't able to make it in person to the meeting - it's been a busy one!

We had an exciting and very engaged meeting at GSU - Armstrong campus. A special thank you to member Dr. Kat Trembly who helped to coordinate this meeting - including a Zoom link for those members who could not make it in person. I think that went great, thank you to the members who joined in remotely - we plan to continue to offer this.

The meeting included dinner sponsored by the APRNCCG, thank you to executive council member Kim for setting this up! And thank you everyone who took the time to be present, we appreciate it!

We had several guest speakers from the UAPRN including members of the policy committee and lobbyist. Each speaker was very engaged and energetic about the great work they do for APRNs in Georgia and we look forward to working more with them in the future. The UAPRN is hosting a conference at Jekyll Island in September - please check it out!

We also had guest speaker Julie Anne Moser from the Georgia Nurses Honor Guard - Savannah Chapter - who talked about the amazing work her new group is doing at services for nurses who have passed away. 

We shared the survey data from the recent SurveyMonkey that went out and discussed how that compares with the AANP data.

We had great conversations about the new logo design - please see the attachments regarding that. We hope to have a final mock up soon to present to everyone.

Several members spoke about how much they enjoyed this type of meeting and want to meet sooner than our planned November 2023 meeting during NP week. 

For the November meeting, we want this to be family friendly and want to use this as an opportunity to reach out to other NPs / APRNs in the community - so please plan to bring a "NP friend" that week!

However, we are going to add on another meeting prior to that in September. The topic will be Hot Topics in Healthcare with member presentations. Current topics include: opioids, PI, post-covid fibrosis, and postmenopausal management.

Can the members who spoke up about speaking please email me back so I can create a list? We are hoping for a few other members to step up and speak about a topic of interest to them - these would be casual presentations maybe 10-15 minutes and I am happy to help you! Please let me know!

We also found that many members were going to AANP the following week! I hope you had a great time - please let us know how it went!

There are several job opportunities this month: Dr. Devaro (dermatology) is looking for an NP. GSU is looking for nursing faculty. The Georgia Infirmary is looking for a PRN NP 1-2 times per week. Please let me or Analicia know if you need more information.
